All day class. Skill level: all. Debby challenged herself to make a quilt using a stack of 16 fat quarters and see how far she got! Bird Song is the result. The simple Cobblestone Block combines with vertical spacer strips and three birdhouses in an asymmetrical setting. Students will have the option of choosing from 4 different birdhouses in our class for more variety. Your quilt may not look like Debby’s – there is an element of improvisation in this! Students will learn construction of a simple Cobblestone Block, paper Piecing large sized birdhouse blocks, simple raw edge appliqué (decorative elements on some of the birdhouses). Students should be able to complete most of the blocks in our class time. Putting them all together might have to wait until you are home and have a design wall to help in assembly. Pattern fee of $10 includes your choice of 4 foundation-pieced birdhouses (plus the master patterns) and the pattern will include a multi-page handout of clear, illustrated instructions. You may use one or all four of the birdhouses. Cost of class: $75.
