All day class. Skill level: all. The 1800s were a vast expanse of time known to us through oral, written and visual history. That ratty quilt you keep, maybe out of sight … but close to your memories, close to your heart. What can you do with it? Learn what characteristics an early quilt possesses and identify the era. You will catalog fabrics and visually see how to replicate the look of them. Learn to combine reproduction fabrics and manipulate today’s “manufactured collections” to achieve your goal. You will identify the little quirks in vintage quilts and seek why? Betty will bring vintage quilts and tops to the class for study!
Students select fabrics from their class stash to construct several block offerings. They are early patterns to let the beauty of the fabric blend appear strong. Beginners will be highly successful and accomplished quilters should get a lot done! Students are encouraged to bring a vintage quilt or top for Show and Tell, regardless of condition. Kit fee of $12 payable to Betty at the time of the class includes 20 or more printouts and patterns, swatches and precuts. Cost of class: $75.
