Description

This is a half-day class offered from 9am to noon. All skill levels. You’ve admired classic sashiko in quilts and wall hangings-now it’s your turn. Even non-hand quilters remark on how easy and soothing sashiko stitching is-think of sashiko as the Zen side of quilting. Finally—a quilting style that will inspire you to use all that gorgeous Asian fabric you bought! Learn basic fabric and thread handling, how to stitch without tension, and how to choose and mark designs. No in-class project but plenty of samples to inspire you. Pictures welcome. Kit fee of $22 includes: ½ yd. authentic indigo sashiko fabric, thread, a sashiko sampler needlepack (10 needles), pattern, and two thimble alternatives. Also an essay on the history of sashiko, written how-to with illos and graphs, and a start on the wall hanging project that incorporates your new-found skills. Cost of 1/2 day workshop: $40
