Description

LONGARM CLASS: 1 student per machine. Whether you are considering purchasing a longarm or are just ready to learn the basics, this class is for you. In a one-on-one environment, Margaret will guide students on fundamental aspects from loading a quilt to proper tensioning and safe ergonomics to keep your body healthy. You will learn interesting background designs appropriate to your level so you can quilt happily and creatively from the front side of the longarm. Class will start with simple motifs, adding features and new components to create complex-looking yet beginner-friendly designs. Then you’ll discuss using templates and a few simple custom features all beginners can do. This class is intended to leave students with the confidence they need to quilt on their own when they go home. Spend the class learning on your own machine with one of the top longarm quilters in the industry! One student per longarm machine.

Class level: beginner.  Kit fee of $20 includes batting, backing and all necessary class handouts.

Supply List: new air or water-based marking pen, scissors, straight 1/4″ quilting template (similar to the “Janet-Lee’s Favorite” sold by The Gadget Girls), pencil, paper. Students must also bring a 2-1/4yd piece of light-colored solid fabric (40″ x 54″) – muslin is fine. Before class, please mark twelve 10″x10″ squares on one half of the fabric using any kind of fabric marking pen or pencil. See drawing below for how to mark your fabric.
