Full day class. Don’t be afraid of hexagons – we have tamed them! Pepper will take you step-by-step with this no-fear hexagon technique. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in class! Use the custom-made templates provided in the class kit and you will be on your path to a hexie masterpiece! Whether you choose to design one block at a time or plan a whole quilt, Pepper will have you thinking about hexagons in a whole new way.
A kit is required and includes: Six-piece template set of interlocking shapes that make all hexies, sixpoint stars, 60-degree diamonds, and the half-shapes that finish them to a square or rectangle. These are custom-made and are for use with rotary cutters. Also includes design handouts. Kit Fee: $40 (payable in class)
SUPPLY LIST: Sewing machine threaded with good quality grey thread, 18″ rotary ruler, cutting board, and rotary cutter with new blade. Straight pins, seam ripper, small pair scissors or snips, small assortment colored pencils, a fine-point black Sharpie marker. Fabrics: at least (30-40) 10″ squares – a variety of fabrics (prints, stripes, large and small scale geometrics etc.), 1½ yd. background fabric. Note: You may also bring an assortment of old quilt blocks that you do not mind cutting up – still include 1½ yd. solid if taking this scrappy approach. Tip: Many shops sell 10″ precut square Layer Cake assortments.
Do remember if working with Layer Cakes assortments that they tend to be super-coordinated so throw in other fabrics for contrast.
