Tea Lecture with Pat & Arlan Christ
The early part of the 20th century brought many changes to the design as well as the color pallet of quilts. This lecture will introduce you to three women who were instrumental in the movement of change. You will observe quilts that changed from dark somber colors to the pastel colors of Marie Webster. Ruby McKim became the top quilt designer during the 1920’s and 1930’s and Anne Orr provided sophisticated needle work patterns. Quilts that represent these changes will be showcased during the lecture. All three women were influential in pattern changes and quilt designs ….these women have become our “Treasures of the Early 20th Century.”
